Novus Spiritus combines the love of God with seeking out knowledge and truth.
In 1986, world renowned psychic, Sylvia Browne, opened a spiritual organization known as the Society of Novus Spiritus. Based on Christian Gnostic theology, Browne's goal is to bring the love of God and God's divine plan to the people. Known for her psychic abilities, Browne has written several books and has had numerous television appearances including the Montel Williams Show and Larry King Live. Novus Spiritus teaches that God is a God of love, not a vengeful God or one to be feared. The church does not believe in Hell or Satan. The Duality of Mother and Father GodBrowne believes that God is both male and female. The concept of God being male is readily accepted and believed in within the Christian community. Known as Om, Novus Spiritus believes that Father God is only half of a Supreme Being. The other half is the female aspect of God known as Azna. After having her existence suppressed for 2,000 years, Novus Spiritus is educating people on the existence of Mother God. The Belief in Jesus ChristNovus Spiritus believes in the existence of Jesus and that Jesus was a wonderful teacher and healer. The church feels that Jesus was instrumental in spreading the love of God. However, a big difference between this church and mainstream Christian churches is that it doesn't believe that Jesus "died for our sins," or that He rose from the dead. The church also recognizes other great teachers such as Mohammed, Mahatma Gandhi, Siddhartha Gautama, and Confucius. Tenets of Novus SpiritusNovus Spiritus is made up of twenty tenets. These tenets teach such lessons as each person is a part of God, the meaning of life, how karma is a balancing of experiences, the importance of faith, reincarnation and love. Of what some may deem as controversial, is the teaching that Jesus didn't die on the cross, but went on to marry Mary Magdalene and, along with His mother, lived out their lives in France.
